Founded by Marlene Sampaio, RCM certified music teacher and resident of Georgetown, ON, Silver Creek Youth Orchestra (SCYO) is a non profit organization with a goal to encourage young musicians to join the orchestra at a beginner or intermediate level. This orchestra specifically serves the purposes to fulfill the gap created by the lack of string programs at Geoergetown public schools. SCYO is also ideal for parents without the hassle of commuting to schools outside the district. SCYO's friendly atmosphere allows kids to learn and enjoy the music at a pace that gives them the satisfaction of participating in an orchestra & playing beautiful music. SCYO also offers the opportunity for kids with advanced skills to perform solo on various occasions through out the year.
